“It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man.” Psalm 118:8 When someone you trust has let you down it is easy to put up defenses. You build walls that none can penetrate. And barriers that none dare come near. You are courteous. But people will not be allowed beyond what they see. Or what you want them to see.
“Hope deferred maketh the heart sick: but when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life.” Proverbs 13:12 How long before God answers your greatest desire?Hope – Young lady viewing horizon. It is easy to become discouraged when what you yearn for has not come to pass. There is even a greater discouragement when you know it is God himself that gave you the desire. And during such times you are tempted to question God and begin to lose hope.
“Unto thee will I cry, O LORD my rock; be not silent to me: lest, if thou be silent to me, I become like them that go down into the pit.” Psalm 28:1 What an agonizing moment when you cry out and you sense God is silent. The following is a devotional my daughter, Rachel wrote. It depicts her personal experience where God kept silence amidst her struggles.
“Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury.” Matthew 25:27 Where are you going to invest your talents? Not long ago I was given monies which I was encouraged to invest in the publication of my own books. This would give me the opportunity to purchase the photo license for the physical printing of my books.
“How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation;” Hebrews 2:3a God’s salvation is personal and intentional. Today we will look at our Lord’s salvation in your life specifically from the perspective of a woman.
“The servant therefore fell down, and worshipped him, saying, Lord, have patience with me, and I will pay thee all.” Matthew 18:26 God had compassion on you and forgave you all. I have often gotten the sense most Christians want to pay God back. It sounds admirable to want to serve God and do it out of a thankful heart of deliverance.
“And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus. But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me. And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?” Matthew 14:29-31 Have you ever been filled with doubts? I know I certainly have and especially lately. The more our Lord has challenged me to go forward the more the doubts have grown.
“And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpiller, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you. And ye shall eat in plenty, and be satisfied, and praise the name of the LORD your God, that hath dealt wondrously with you: and my people shall never be ashamed.” Joel 2:25-26 Do you have any regrets from this past year? The good news is that God desires you to be restored.
“And it came to pass in the six hundredth and first year, in the first month, the first day of the month, the waters were dried up from off the earth: and Noah removed the covering of the ark, and looked, and, behold, the face of the ground was dry.” Genesis 8:13 Mankind was given a second chance when Noah and his family entered the ark.
“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6 What a privilege that must have been to behold the Christ child!
