The Greatest Overcomer – Must Shine
“These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” John 16:33
Does it really make you happy that Jesus Christ has overcome the world? Or do you secretly wish you could overcome the world by your own strength? Oh, don’t get me wrong you want to make sure Jesus gets the credit. But deep down inside do you want some glory for your own. A pat on the back to hear God say thou good and faithful servant?
But is it really you that did this or Christ in you?
Whose light are you shining – the glory of God or your own?
I know these may sound like harsh words but I am addressing real issues that have kept me from living a victorious Christian life as God’s child.
Is your focus you and how you shine? Or is your focus how the Greatest Overcomer shines?
“He must increase, but I must decrease.” John 3:30
And you know this and cry out, “Lord take this selfishness from me!”
But He doesn’t go away because our Lord has a purpose in mind. And it is that HE is the Light of the world that desires shines.
“As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.” John 9:5
And our Lord has chosen you to be His vessel by which He shines.
“Ye are the light of the world…” Matthew 5:14a
The Greatest Overcomer is your light. Our Lord Jesus Christ is still in the world, dwelling you by His Spirit and desires to shine in you.
