Publish a Kindle book?
The possibility of writing my thoughts in a book ran through my mind. It wasn’t as if I hadn’t written anything in the past. For ten years I had written in a personal blog. I had already worked as a freelance writer on travel sites. I had ghostwritten an ebook and co-wrote another. So why was this different?
Have you found yourself on the edge of taking the plunge as a writer? I mean getting all out there, no longer working for someone but using your writing to open your heart?
It was a real challenge when I thought to publish my own Kindle book. I wondered how and where would I begin?
A Kindle Book Begins with a Vision
Where there is no vision, the people perish: Proverbs 29:18a
The same applies to writing. Where there is no vision your book will not exist.
I was not hired to write, so why write?
Why write?
Because someone, somewhere needs to read your story.
At the time my story was the loss of my children. I realized I am not the only one that struggled with grief. But my journey could also let someone know, I understood. My journey could let someone know they are not alone. This became my vision. I wanted to be a blessing in someone’s life.
Little did I know this desire to be a blessing would grow. God reminded me after I published this personal Kindle book, “No Baby to Cradle” of my desire to be a blessing in the life of one young woman of faith.
Who she was and where I would find her I knew not but God did. Eventually, God led me, by his weaving hand, to this young woman of faith. And our story is new writing journey found in my upcoming kindle book, No Greater Love. This is Book 3 in the Love’s Weaving Hand series.
Be a Blessing with Your Writing
He that withholdeth corn, the people shall curse him: but blessing shall be upon the head of him that selleth it. Proverb 11:26
This verse is a challenging reminder that keeping my writing to myself is not a blessing. This is especially true when someone could be encouraged by reading what I wrote.
One of the struggles writer’s encounter is wondering if anyone will read their writing. But how can you know if you never publish your writing?
Writing a Kindle book is one of the easiest ways to get your story out there. The out of pocket expense is minimal especially if you do your own cover and interior design.
Edit Your Book
Get a vision for your book. Write your book. And edit your Kindle book.
Do NOT skip the editing process. If you cannot afford an editor ask friends to help who enjoy editing. In addition these friends could give you feedback on what they think about your book.
Read your book out loud and see how it sounds.
There are other helpful tools you can use like:
- Grammarly – a writer’s assistant
- Microsoft Word – for tracking corrections done by others
- Hemmingway Editor – for sentence clarity
Publish Your Book
As I mentioned Kindle is the best way to publish your book. It is low cost to you and a good way to test who will read your book. Already your editors should have given you feedback. At this stage you could also get beta readers. People who get to read your Kindle book for free and who give you feedback.
Visualize your journey as a writer and publish a Kindle book. Don’t let fear keep you from journey that blesses other. Be a willing learner and take action steps to see your book written, edited and published.
